Family Worship Bible Guide

This is a great complement to family Bible reading. It’s mean to be read after a chapter of the Bible and offers some explanation and application. It has a section for every chapter in the Bible!

More helpful for families with no children or older children.

The Child’s Story Bible (Vos)

The most faithful Bible I’ve found written with children in mind. Contains few pictures, and none of Jesus! Doesn’t skip hard sections, but helps soften or explain where needed.

The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible

A great and biblically faithful children’s Bible for younger children. We have read it so much it fell apart and has duck tape!

Little Pilgrim’s Progress

A Faithful adaptation of John Bunyan’s allegory of the Christian life, The Pilgrim’s Progress, for young readers. It preserves the original plotlines of Bunyan’s classic while telling the story of Little Christian and Christiana in a way that kids can understand. Great illustrations. We have probably read it 10 times through back to back, a little each night.

Gender: A Conversation Guide

“This book seeks to help families teach the Bible’s view clearly and consistently throughout a child’s life. It contains two major sections. Part one focuses on what is most critical during three major foundations, or stages, in a child’s life. Part two is a toolbox of resources to help you better understand and articulate various topics surrounding gender. A favorite in our home.”

Family Worship: : In the Bible, In History, and In Your Home

“This practical guide by Donald S. Whitney will prove invaluable to families—with or without children in the home—as they practice God-glorifying, Christ-exalting worship through Bible reading, prayer, and singing. Includes a discussion guide in the back for small groups.”

Understanding Family Worship: Its History, Theology and Practice

A helpful short book on understanding the history and practice of family worship

Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family

“In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.”

Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality

A helpful theology of the body to help answer common questions about gender and sexuality.

Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters

This book will help you understand what the trans craze is and how you can inoculate your child against it—or how to retrieve her from this dangerous path. (Not from a Christian position).

When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment

Can a boy be “trapped” in a girl’s body? Can modern medicine “reassign” sex? Is our sex “assigned” to us in the first place? What is the most loving response to a person experiencing a conflicted sense of gender? What should our law say on matters of “gender identity”?

When Harry Became Sally provides thoughtful answers to questions arising from our transgender moment. Drawing on the best insights from biology, psychology, and philosophy, Ryan Anderson offers a nuanced view of human embodiment, a balanced approach to public policy on gender identity, and a sober assessment of the human costs of getting human nature wrong.
